Today’s Title: Life Is Short And Full of Agitation, So Stand
Does that resonate with you? It does with me.
Isn’t it true that we never quite seem to be free of trouble and turmoil?
Doesn’t life often get very complicated? Beyond our ability to understand. Beyond your control.
Isn’t standing almost impossible when you are so weighted down with pain and suffering?
Job chapter 14:2 brings yet another problem to our front door.
Allow me to discuss that with you a bit.
Before I continue a blog post I always provide the surrounding Scripture:
Job 14:1-3
Man, who is born of woman Is short-lived and full of turmoil.
Like a flower he comes forth and withers, He also flees like a shadow and does not remain.
You also open Your eyes on him And bring him into judgment with Yourself.
Man born of a woman describes all of us on planet Earth
Short-lived, we know too well
Full of turmoil, who can deny?
Like a flower that withers, sadly we agree.
He also flees like a shadow. We ask what does that mean?
He does not remain. Stand is a better translation. But what does that mean?
You open Your eyes on him. Did God’s focus shift to a specific man? Is it Job?
You bring him into judgement with Yourself. What does that mean?
Suddenly, our text became complicated and hard to understand, just like our life.

I want to leave you with some encouragement.
The book of Job was written for you. Today’s text is “living and active”:
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb 4:12–16, NASB).
